2024 Centennial Awards for Excellence | Helpful Tips
Note to Nominators:
Thank you for nominating a person for a Centennial Award. Please keep in mind that the Centennial Awards recognize individuals who have gone “above and beyond” the scope of their job responsibilities to make an impact on ECU and/or the larger community. Because the selection committee depends on the nomination and support letter to illustrate the scope of the nominee’s contributions, it is critically important that the nomination letter/support letter clearly illustrate this excellence. Please consider the following when composing the nomination letter and providing a letter of support:
- Briefly describe the nominee’s job position and responsibilities at ECU and your connection to the nominee.
- Focus on the nominee’s work and contributions that go above and beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
- Describe the impact of the nominee’s work on ECU and/or larger community. This can be done using a variety of information including quotes from other people who have worked with the nominee and any data resulting from the nominee’s work.
- One nomination letter AND one letter of support are required. These letter of support can be penned by colleagues, students, and/or community leaders who have benefited from and/or observed the nominee’s contributions.
We appreciate your passion and time in nominating an individual whom you admire and hope that the above recommendations will provide a nice framework from which to work.
